A large DNA analysis of people with and without pancreatic cancer has identified several new genetic markers that signal increased risk of developing the highly lethal disease, report scientists from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The markers are variations in the inherited DNA code at particular locations along chromosomes. Several of these variations in the DNA code were identified that influence an individual’s risk for pancreatic cancer.

The discovery of these markers – along with four that were previously identified is important for several reasons.

The study findings represent analyses of DNA from 7,683 patients with pancreatic cancer and 14,397 control patients without this cancer, all of European descent, from the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia.

La segunda noticia es sobre el SISTEMA RESPIRATORIO:

Scientists from The University of Manchester have discovered why medication to treat asthma and pneumonia can become ineffective.

In the UK pneumonia, which is caused by an infection, affects around 1 in 1000 adults each year and is more serious for babies, young children, the elderly, smokers and those with an underlying health condition.

More than 5 million people in the UK are affected by asthma and the NHS spends around £1 billion a year treating and caring for people with the disease.

And the team discovered that more severe lung inflammation happens as a result of the loss of the body clock working in these cells.

Our bodies anticipate the change from day to night by having an internal, or circadian clock.

La tercera noticia es sobre el SISTEMA CIRCULATORIO, en concreto de las venas:

As we have all been able to appreciate, the wall of the superficial veins usually sees it bluish in color.

But why does this happen if the blood is red?

Could it be that the wall of the veins is blue and is it for this reason?

No. We see the superficial veins bluish in color due to an optical effect produced by the skin.

La última noticia es sobre el SISTEMA EXCRETOR, en concreto de una enfermedad que se llama diálisis:

Renal replacement therapy, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, must guarantee an optimal fluid balance that avoids episodes of overhydration or underhydration in the patient and that are associated with an increase in mortality.

However, only half of kidney patients have optimal fluid control in their body and there is an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality according to the more than 500 experts from around the world who have participated in the study.

Experts estimate that between 10% and 12% of the population suffers from chronic renal failure, a disease that involves the loss of kidney functions and that requires the patient to be included in hemodialysis programs, which are currently around of 25,000 patients, of whom 4,000 are in Catalonia, who receive hemodialysis treatment in 90% of cases, while the remaining 10% receive peritoneal dialysis.
